Driving down a highway can be a routine part of many people’s daily lives, but for one dump truck driver near Cordes Lakes, Arizona, it turned into a terrifying ordeal on Tuesday afternoon. The Arizona Department of Public Safety reported that the dump truck went down a steep embankment and was left hanging over a culvert off of Interstate 17. The driver fortunately only sustained non-life-threatening injuries, but the scene was certainly a dramatic one.
The incident prompted officials to close a portion of the highway as they responded to the scene. The truck reportedly veered about 300 feet down the embankment, leaving many questions as to what may have caused the crash in the first place.
This alarming situation took place north of Cordes Lake near the intersection of I-17 and State Route 169. It serves as a reminder of the unexpected dangers that can come with driving, even on familiar stretches of road. Stay safe out there, and always be prepared for the unexpected.
