Tragedy Strikes Tempe Town Lake: Recovery Efforts Underway
Reports have surfaced that a person went missing in the waters of Tempe Town Lake, sparking immediate recovery efforts by city police. The incident, witnessed by a concerned onlooker who alerted authorities, occurred Wednesday evening as the individual disappeared beneath the surface of the lake.
Boats were dispatched to the scene around 10 p.m. that night, but the search proved fruitless as the missing person could not be located. It is important to note that swimming is prohibited in Tempe Town Lake due to hazardous currents, with two tragic drownings already recorded this year.
Despite the initial setback, recovery operations are scheduled to resume on Friday morning to hopefully bring closure to this distressing situation. For the latest updates on this developing story, stay tuned to 12News.
