Keep Rodents Out of Your Car: Tips from the Experts
Are you experiencing an unexpected problem with rodents taking over your car in the Valley? According to experts, this is a growing concern for many residents. Matt Allen, owner of Virginia Auto Service, has seen an increase in cars being brought in with rodent damage.
“Cars are a perfect place for rodents to make a nest,” Allen explained. “It’s a safe environment with plenty of tasty treats for them to either eat or use for nesting material.”
The damage caused by rodents can be extensive, including chewed-up wiring, rodent waste, and even dead rats found in vehicles. Allen emphasized that this issue is not specific to any particular area or type of car.
To prevent rodent infestations in your car, Allen suggests regularly checking under the hood for signs of rodents, such as footprints, collected leaves, debris, and rodent waste resembling dark rice. Detecting these signs early is crucial to avoid costly damages.
If you have comprehensive car insurance coverage, rodent damages may be covered. However, prevention is key to avoiding this problem altogether. Jo Martin with Arizona Pest Solutions recommends identifying the type of rodents in your car and removing their nest promptly.
Some effective solutions to deter rodents from your car include using lights, such as solar-powered Christmas lights, to ward them off. Additionally, peppermint oil can be sprayed around the engine to discourage rats. Keeping your property clean is also important in preventing rodents from returning.
If rodents persist despite trying these methods, it is advisable to seek professional help. Don’t let rodents take over your car and cost you thousands of dollars in damages.
