The Diamondbacks Blank the Braves 1-0 Behind a Solo Shot by Suarez

The Arizona Diamondbacks pulled off a nail-biting victory against the Atlanta Braves with a final score of 1-0 on Thursday night. Brandon Pfaadt showcased his skills by outpitching Max Fried in a stellar performance that secured the win for the Diamondbacks.

Pfaadt, who has been on a roll lately, delivered six strong innings, allowing only three hits while striking out four batters. This marked his fourth consecutive impressive start after three previous no-decisions.

The lone run of the game came in the fifth inning courtesy of Eugenio Suarez, who crushed a 437-foot home run. This came after Suarez’s 452-foot homer in the Diamondbacks’ 7-5 victory over the Braves the night before.

It was a historic win for the Diamondbacks, as the last time they secured a 1-0 victory at home through a solo homer was back on Sept. 19, 2011, when Justin Upton achieved the feat against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The game also saw a stellar defensive play from Jake McCarthy, whose leaping grab at the wall in the ninth inning saved the day for Arizona. Paul Sewald closed out the game with a solid performance, securing his 13th save of the season.

In a dramatic turnaround from their previous meeting in April, Fried and Pfaadt delivered a pitching duel, with both hurlers displaying their best form. Pfaadt hit peak speed with his pitches and maintained a perfect record until a single by Austin Riley in the fourth inning.

For the Braves, Spencer Schwellenbach will be taking the mound in the upcoming series against San Diego, while Ryne Nelson will be starting for the Diamondbacks in their interleague series against Toronto.
