What happened when an Arizona Cardinals season ticket holder, Susan Rosener, was forced to discard her Make America Great Again (MAGA) hat in the trash at last week’s game has sparked controversy and led to a response from conservative activist group Turning Point USA.

Security at State Farm Stadium told Rosener that her black MAGA hat violated the stadium’s policy on prohibited items. The incident received national attention, with the Arizona Cardinals later stating that the security member had misunderstood the policy.

In response, Turning Point USA set up a tent at the game and distributed MAGA hats to attendees to show support for Rosener and raise awareness about First Amendment rights.

Brandon Wilhelm, a Lions fan who met Rosener outside the stadium, emphasized the importance of freedom of expression, stating, “You can support by wearing and saying whatever it is, because that’s what makes America the greatest country in the world.”

Rosener, who received an apology from the season ticket manager, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support she received. She encouraged others to stand up for their beliefs and express themselves freely.

Turning Point USA representatives were present to register voters and distribute MAGA hats, ensuring that attendees felt confident wearing them inside the stadium without facing similar issues.

“We wanted to help share her story and make sure that people know their rights and to stand up for those rights,” said Turning Point Field Representative Alyssa Goncales.
