Child Rushed to Hospital After Being Pulled from Pool in Phoenix

A terrifying incident unfolded in Phoenix as a child was rushed to the hospital after being pulled from a backyard pool. The family’s quick actions and the response of first responders could make all the difference in this developing story.

First responders received a call just after 7 p.m. reporting an injured child in a neighborhood near 91st Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road. According to the Phoenix Police Department, a family member had pulled the child out of the pool, who was unresponsive at the time.

Fortunately, the family was performing CPR on the child when fire department officials arrived on the scene. The child was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in “extremely critical condition,” as stated by Phoenix fire officials. The child, a 6-year-old, is currently fighting for their life.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of water safety, especially for children. Drowning is a leading cause of death for young children, but there are ways to prevent such tragedies.

Drowning Prevention Tips

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, everyone should learn life-saving skills like swimming and CPR. Additionally, installing a four-sided isolation fence around backyard pools with self-closing and self-latching gates can help prevent accidents. It’s crucial to closely supervise children when they are in or near water and ensure they wear life jackets, even if they know how to swim.

As this story continues to unfold, our thoughts are with the child and their family. Stay informed by subscribing to the Phoenix Police Department updates. Remember, water safety is a responsibility we all share.
