The Arizona Cardinals Make a Trade with the Kansas City Chiefs
The Arizona Cardinals are cutting their roster down to 53 players and have made a significant move by trading linebacker Cameron Thomas to the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs. According to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Cardinals will receive a seventh-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft in return for Thomas.
Thomas, who played high school football at Carlsbad High School in California, was drafted by the Cardinals out of San Diego State in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. In his two seasons with the team, he played in 32 games, starting three of them in 2023. During his time with the Cardinals, Thomas recorded 40 tackles, six tackles for loss, seven quarterback hits, three sacks, and one fumble recovery that he returned for a touchdown.
After trading Thomas, the Cardinals’ roster now stands at 84 players, and they will need to trim it down to 53 players by 1 p.m. Arizona time on Tuesday.
