Leading up to the competition, the dancers-turned-athletes tested out the dance floor at the breaking venue in Place de la Concorde. The stage is designed to resemble a giant record, with a backdrop shaped like a massive boombox, paying homage to the musical roots of breaking.
For those new to the sport, breaking combines elements of gymnastics, martial arts, music, and improvisation. The Trivium judging system will evaluate breakers based on technique, execution, musicality, and originality, among other criteria.
