Tragedy struck at Lake Pleasant in Peoria, Arizona, as a young swimmer went missing after diving into the water and never resurfacing, as reported by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
On Sunday, around 4:45 p.m., 25-year-old Byron Garcia-Perez submerged while swimming about 100 feet from the shore. His body was recovered at a depth of 9 feet just before midnight.
No foul play is suspected, and authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident. This marks the thirteenth reported drowning in lakes and rivers patrolled by the agency this year.
