Cam Skattebo, Arizona State
The Sun Devils’ fourth-year running back put on a show, rushing for a career-high 262 yards and dominating with 297 all-purpose yards in the victory over Mississippi State.
Skattebo’s performance included 33 carries, the highest in the FBS so far this season. His last carry, a 39-yard run to the Mississippi State 12, sealed the win for the Sun Devils.
With an average of 7.9 yards per carry, Skattebo achieved the second-highest rushing total in program history and displayed his explosive playmaking ability with 12 runs of 10 yards or more, all against Mississippi State.
Hailing from Rio Linda, California, Skattebo transferred from Sacramento State for the 2023 season, adding versatility to his performance with three receptions for 35 yards.
Runner-up
Xavier Scott of Illinois was a notable standout, making impactful plays in the Illini’s victory over then-No. 19 Kansas, including an interception return for a touchdown and a sack among his contributions.
Scott’s defensive prowess was evident throughout the game, with key plays that helped secure the win for Illinois, showcasing his skill and playmaking ability.

Other standout performances included Northern Illinois DT Cade Haberman’s clutch blocks to secure a major upset over Notre Dame and Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty’s impressive rushing display in a tough loss to Oregon.
Additionally, Syracuse QB Kyle McCord’s stellar passing performance in a victory over Georgia Tech highlighted the depth of talent in college football.
