The Inspirational Journey of Paralympian Allysa Seely
Allysa Seely, a remarkable athlete and three-time Paralympic medalist, has been making waves at the 2024 Paris Paralympics. Hailing from Glendale, Arizona, Seely has overcome incredible challenges to achieve success in the world of triathlon.
Seely’s journey began during her college years at ASU when she discovered her passion for triathlons. However, her path was not without obstacles as she was soon diagnosed with Chiari II Malformation, basilar invagination, and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which ultimately led to the amputation of part of her leg in 2013.
Despite these setbacks, Seely remained determined to pursue her dreams and made history by participating in the first-ever triathlon event at the Paralympic Games in 2016. Since then, she has clinched gold in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, gold in Tokyo in 2020, and most recently, a bronze in Paris.
At just 35 years old, Seely has not only conquered the world of Paralympic sports but has also been featured in ESPN’s Body Issue magazine and received an ESPY award for her outstanding achievements.
Allysa Seely’s resilience and dedication serve as an inspiration to all, reminding us that with determination and courage, anything is possible. Congratulations, Allysa!
