Man Arrested for Making Death Threats Against Donald Trump
In a shocking turn of events, a man from southern Arizona has been arrested for allegedly making death threats against former President Donald Trump on social media. This incident occurred on the same day Trump was visiting the U.S.-Mexico border in the area. The suspect, identified as Ronald Lee Syvrud, 66, from Benson, was apprehended by the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office during a traffic stop.
The Sheriff’s Office stated that locating Syvrud was a top priority given Trump’s presence in the region. Syvrud, who had multiple outstanding warrants in Wisconsin and Arizona, including charges for driving under the influence and failure to register as a sex offender, is currently in custody.
It’s worth noting that Trump recently survived an assassination attempt on July 13 and spoke at his first outdoor rally since the event in North Carolina. The suspect’s last name has been corrected to Syvrud, not Syrvud, by authorities.
