Meet Junum, a 2-year-old Shepherd mix who finally found his “furever home” after months of intensive care at the Arizona Humane Society.
Junum’s journey began when he was found impaled and disemboweled by a fence in July. The Arizona Humane Society’s Dispatch Team responded to a call from Phoenix police about the injured dog who attempted to climb a wire fence and got severely injured in the process.
When technicians arrived at the scene, they found Junum with a massive laceration to his abdomen, with his intestines protruding from his body. The 2-year-old dog had to undergo surgery where more than five feet of his intestines were removed by AHS veterinarians.
After weeks of intensive medical care and supervision at the shelter’s ICU, including dental surgery, Junum defied all odds and successfully recovered. Now, he is happily living his best life with his “furever” family in Buckeye.
Although Junum’s recovery is remarkable, his story represents the thousands of sick, injured, and abused pets that the Arizona Humane Society cares for each year.
If you’d like to support the Arizona Humane Society and help animals like Junum, you can donate through various initiatives such as the $50,000 CareCredit Donation Match and the Ulti-Mutt Toyota Car Raffle. You can also donate by shopping at AJ’s Fine Foods in Arizona.
