Whitney’s journey to becoming a gold medalist is nothing short of inspirational. Standing tall at 6’3″, Whitney’s athletic prowess was evident from a young age. She excelled in gymnastics and swimming before finding her true calling in volleyball.
After a successful collegiate career at the University of Arizona and professional stints in Europe and Asia, Whitney faced a career-threatening injury that led to her ankle being fused. But instead of giving up, Whitney saw this as an opportunity to explore new horizons.
Discovering sitting volleyball, Whitney made a remarkable comeback to the sport she loved. With her determination and talent, she secured a spot on Team USA’s Women’s sitting volleyball team and went on to win her first gold medal at the 2021 Paralympics in Tokyo.
Fast forward to 2024, Whitney found herself in Paris, competing against China in the gold medal match. In a nail-biting final set, Whitney’s team emerged victorious, earning her a second gold medal and solidifying her status as a Paralympic champion.
