Perdue Foods Recalls 167,000 Pounds of Chicken Nuggets and Tenders Due to Metal Contamination
Consumers who have the recalled chicken are urged to throw it away or return it to its place of purchase. If you have any of the affected products in your freezer, it’s important to take action immediately.
Perdue Foods is recalling over 167,000 pounds of frozen chicken nuggets and tenders after reports of metal wire being found in some products. The recall covers select lots of three products: Perdue Breaded Chicken Tenders, Butcher Box Organic Chicken Breast Nuggets, and Perdue Simply Smart Organics Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets.
According to the U.S. Agriculture Department’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, it was determined that some of these products may be contaminated with a foreign material, specifically a thin strand of metal wire. While there have been no confirmed injuries or adverse reactions reported, Perdue decided to recall all impacted packages as a precaution.
If you have any of the recalled products, you can identify them by checking the product codes listed on both Perdue and FSIS’s online notices. The affected products have a best if used by date of March 23, 2025, and establishment number “P-33944” on the back of the package.
Consumers are advised to either throw away the recalled chicken or return it to the place of purchase. Perdue is offering full refunds to impacted consumers who can call the company at 866-866-3703.
