French film icon Alain Delon, known for his timeless charm and legendary acting career, passed away this week at the age of 88. Delon left behind a legacy of cinematic brilliance and a deep love for his furry companion, Loubo, a Belgian Malinois he adopted in 2014.

In a 2018 interview, Delon expressed a desire to have Loubo buried alongside him after his death, emphasizing the special bond he shared with his loyal canine companion. However, following his passing, concerns arose about Loubo’s fate, prompting animal rights activists and concerned citizens to advocate for the dog’s well-being.

Fortunately, the Brigitte Bardot Foundation, an animal rights group founded by the renowned French film star and close friend of Delon, intervened to ensure Loubo’s safety. Delon’s family confirmed that the dog will be allowed to live on in his home in Douchy, honoring Delon’s wish for Loubo to have a comfortable life after his passing.

Delon’s dedication to animal welfare and his support for organizations like the Brigitte Bardot Foundation underscored his compassionate nature and love for all living beings. While Loubo may grieve the loss of his beloved owner, the outpouring of support from the community reflects a growing awareness of the importance of treating animals as individuals with their own rights and needs.

As France mourns the loss of one of its most iconic film stars, Delon’s legacy lives on not only through his timeless performances but also through the enduring love and care he showed towards his furry friend, Loubo.
