Arizona State’s football team has captured the attention of college football enthusiasts with their impressive 3-0 start to the 2024 season under second-year head coach Kenny Dillingham. This remarkable turnaround comes on the heels of consecutive 3-9 seasons in 2022 and 2023, where expectations were low for the Sun Devils.
Despite preseason predictions placing them at the bottom of the Big 12 Conference, Arizona State finds itself among the unbeaten teams in the conference, a list that notably excludes their in-state rival, Arizona.
Following their recent victory at Texas State, offensive lineman Ben Coleman visited the 12News studios to share his thoughts on the team’s success. Coleman expressed his pride in the team’s 3-0 start and credited their hard work and belief in each other for their accomplishments.
He highlighted the culture change instilled by Coach Dillingham, emphasizing the unity and resilience of a team that includes several transfer players. Coleman commended the growth of the program and the positive impact of Dillingham’s leadership.
The Sun Devil student section has shown fervent support in the team’s home games, with over 10,000 students filling the stands. Coleman acknowledged the positive influence of the fans and anticipated a buzzing atmosphere for their upcoming game against Kansas.
ASU’s success on the field has been bolstered by their running backs, who have been averaging over 200 rushing yards per game, giving confidence to Coleman and his fellow offensive linemen as they prepare for their debut in the Big 12 Conference.
The Sun Devils will face the Texas Tech Red Raiders in their first-ever Big 12 game on September 21, setting the stage for a crucial matchup that will test their newfound momentum.
