Brush Fire Near Rio Verde Forces Evacuations

Officials have reported a brush fire near Rio Verde that has led to the evacuation of some homes in the area on Thursday afternoon.

Scottsdale police have stated that officers are currently assisting with the evacuations of homeowners near the fire, which has been named the Sand Hills Fire.

The brush fire is situated near 128th Street and Rio Verde Drive. Scottsdale fire officials have indicated that the flames have already consumed between 25-30 acres, and crews are actively working to contain the blaze. At least two homes have already been evacuated as a precaution.
