Tragedy struck a west Phoenix neighborhood on Aug. 23 when a serious crash occurred, leading to the untimely death of a young mother.
Marisa Zermeno, just 25 years old, succumbed to her injuries on Sept. 7, two weeks after the fatal incident, as reported by Sergeant Brian Bower of the Phoenix Police Department. The crash took place near 39th Avenue and McDowell Road, where Zermeno’s vehicle collided with another car after it made a left turn into the intersection she was passing through.
Both Zermeno and her 6-year-old daughter, who was also in the car, were rushed to the hospital. Fortunately, the daughter’s injuries were not life-threatening, and she has since been released to recover.
Following Zermeno’s passing, her family organized a celebration of her life and is now raising funds to support her daughter’s recovery and to arrange a memorial service for Zermeno. You can contribute to their GoFundMe here.
As the community mourns this loss, it serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of supporting those in need during difficult times. Let us come together to offer compassion and assistance to Zermeno’s family as they navigate this challenging period.
