Welcome to the latest development news in Phoenix! The Phoenix City Council recently voted to change the land designation for a vacant parcel of about 80 acres next to the popular Hurricane Harbor water park. This change paves the way for Lennar to develop a new neighborhood consisting of nearly 300 home lots in this prime location, adjacent to the 1,500-acre Adobe Dam Regional Park.

While some nearby residents have expressed concerns about the potential impact of new housing in the area, Phoenix City Councilwoman Ann O’Brien emphasized the urgent need for more housing to accommodate the growing population in the Valley. O’Brien pointed out that the community stands to gain new neighbors and businesses without losing existing recreational land.

The Valley, as locals call the Phoenix Metropolitan Area, is the largest metropolitan area in the Southwest and is home to various major cities like Mesa, Chandler, Scottsdale, and more. With a combined population of nearly 5 million people, the Valley is the 11th largest metropolitan area in the country.

Maricopa County, where Phoenix is located, is the fourth largest county in the U.S. by population and encompasses vast open spaces, including a park system with 120,000 acres of parkland. As the seat of Maricopa County, Phoenix is not only the state capital but also the fifth most populous city in the country.

Stay tuned for more updates on the exciting developments shaping Phoenix and the surrounding areas!
