Major Roadwork Expected to Cause Delays on I-10 in Phoenix This Weekend
Attention all drivers in the Phoenix area! Get ready for some major delays this weekend as a significant portion of Interstate 10 will be closed for roadwork, according to an announcement from ADOT.
Starting from 10 p.m. on Friday, September 6, until 4 a.m. on Monday, September 9, the westbound lanes of I-10 will be shut down between US 60 and I-17.
Additionally, several ramps will also be closed during this time, including:
- The ramps from westbound US 60 to westbound I-10
- The southbound SR 143 ramp to westbound I-10
- The eastbound I-10 ramp to northbound SR 143
Furthermore, starting from 8 p.m. on Friday, September 6, to 4 a.m. on Monday, September 9, the following ramps will be closed:
- The westbound I-10 on-ramps at Elliot, Baseline, and Broadway roads, as well as 40th and 32nd streets
- The westbound US 60 on-ramps at McClintock Drive, Rural Road, and Mill Avenue
If you need to navigate around the closures, ADOT has provided some detour options:
- Use eastbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) or US 60 to northbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) to westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) to access southbound SR 143 and westbound I-10 beyond the closure.
- Drivers heading to the West Valley can bypass the closure by using the Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway) west and north to connect with I-10 at 59th Avenue.
- For travelers heading to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, use northbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) to westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) and use the Sky Harbor Boulevard entrance.
Be sure to stay updated on any changes or updates throughout the weekend and remember to stay alert while driving through work zones.
