California Resident Arrested in Arizona with Large Amount of Fentanyl Pills

A recent traffic stop in Prescott Valley, Arizona led to the arrest of Bibianna Hinesley, a 30-year-old California resident, after officers discovered thousands of suspected fentanyl pills in the driver’s car on Tuesday night.

According to the Prescott Valley Police Department, the arrest took place in the area of Navajo Drive and Florentine Road, and Hinesley was later booked into the Yavapai County jail.

In 2023, law enforcement officials in Arizona seized more than 40 million fentanyl pills and over 380 pounds of fentanyl powder, setting a record for the amount of fentanyl seized in a single year, as reported by the Phoenix division of the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Exploring the Phoenix Metropolitan Area

“The Valley” is a term commonly used to refer to the Phoenix Metropolitan Area, the largest metropolitan area in the Southwest. It comprises various major cities such as Mesa, Chandler, Scottsdale, Tempe, Glendale, Surprise, Peoria, Gilbert, El Mirage, Avondale, Litchfield Park, Goodyear, and Buckeye.

Whether a city falls under the East Valley or West Valley category depends on its location in relation to Phoenix. The combined population of these cities, according to the 2020 United States Census, is 4,845,832, making it the 11th largest metropolitan area in the country.

Maricopa County: A Snapshot

Maricopa County, the fourth-largest county in the U.S. by population, houses 4,485,414 people as per the 2020 Census. This county, spanning over 9,224 square miles, contains approximately 63% of Arizona’s population and is larger than seven U.S. states.

Featuring one of the nation’s largest park systems, Maricopa County boasts an estimated 120,000 acres of open space parks with numerous trails, nature centers, and campgrounds. Phoenix serves as the county seat, state capital, and the fifth-most populous city in the U.S., designated by the census.

Named after the Maricopa or Piipaash Native American Tribe, Maricopa County’s rich history and diverse landscape make it a unique and vibrant part of Arizona.
