Suspected Impaired Driver Hits Mesa Police Officer’s Vehicle
Early Monday morning, a Mesa Police officer’s vehicle was hit by a suspected impaired driver near Dobson Road and University Drive. Fortunately, the officer was not injured in the incident.
Details of the Incident
The crash took place just after 1:30 a.m. when the Mesa police patrol car was traveling west on University Drive. The other vehicle approached at high speed, attempting to pass the patrol car using the left-hand turn lane. In the process, it hit the back of the patrol vehicle and veered off course, eventually colliding with a City of Mesa light pole and a pile of decorative boulders.
The driver of the car was taken to the hospital for evaluation, while the officer emerged unscathed.
