Tragic Head-On Collision Claims Two Lives

Tragedy struck southeast of Fountain Hills as a devastating head-on collision resulted in the loss of two lives and left two others with life-threatening injuries.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the scene at Bush Highway and Sheep’s Crossing around 11:26 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 1, where they discovered a heartbreaking scene.

According to initial reports, 18-year-old Jacob Long, driving a sedan westbound on North Bush Highway, tragically veered into oncoming traffic, colliding head-on with 19-year-old Tia Ledsworth’s eastbound vehicle.

Both drivers, Ledsworth and Long, sadly lost their lives at the scene. The police investigation revealed that Long was driving at a staggering 118 miles per hour in a 45 miles per hour zone.

Each car had a passenger, a 20-year-old in Ledsworth’s car and a 19-year-old in Long’s car, who were rushed to local hospitals with life-threatening injuries. As of now, the passengers remain in serious condition.
