Nikki Glaser to Host Golden Globes
Comedian and actor Nikki Glaser, known for her riotously sharp wit, has been selected to host the upcoming Golden Globes ceremony. With a reputation for mercilessly teasing the rich and powerful, Glaser promises to bring her edgy humor to the prestigious event, following in the footsteps of comedy greats like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Ricky Gervais.
Glaser, who has gained recognition for her sharp comedic style, particularly at roasts, recently roasted Tom Brady, poking fun at his love life and his past advocacy of cryptocurrencies. Her Emmy-nominated special, “Someday You’ll Die” for HBO, touched on controversial topics ranging from supporting friends’ abortions to revealing her darkest porn habits.
“Some of my favorite jokes of all time have come from past Golden Globes opening monologues when Tina, Amy, or Ricky have said exactly what we all didn’t know we desperately needed to hear. I just hope to continue in that time-honored tradition (that might also get me canceled),” Glaser stated, highlighting her excitement for the upcoming opportunity.
Jay Penske, chairman and CEO of Dick Clark Productions and Penske Media Corporation, expressed his confidence in Glaser’s ability to bring a fresh and unmatched candor to the Golden Globes hosting gig. “Her unapologetic style made her an obvious and compelling choice as host for this year’s event,” Penske commented.
The previous Globes telecast garnered an average of 9.4 million viewers, marking a 50% increase from the year before. Despite the star-studded guest list, the host received criticism for a lackluster performance. With Glaser taking the reins, viewers can expect a night of laughter and entertainment at the upcoming Golden Globes ceremony on January 5, which will be broadcast live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.
