Impaired Driver Causes Widespread Power Outage in Black Canyon City
An impaired driver is facing criminal charges after crashing into an APS pole in Black Canyon City, Arizona on Tuesday night, resulting in a blackout for the entire area.
Residents began calling the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office around 8:30 p.m. after a loud crash was heard, and power was lost in their homes. Deputies arrived at Coldwater Road to find the driver had crashed into multiple objects before hitting the utility pole.
The driver, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, was taken to the hospital for injuries. Power was restored within a few hours, but the crash caused approximately $10,000 in damages. YCSO confirmed that criminal charges would be filed for review by the county attorney.
