Welcome to the city of Phoenix, where our commitment to ensuring safe and clean drinking water is unwavering, even as we face hotter and drier conditions. The importance of water quality cannot be understated, and we take the responsibility of safeguarding our water supply very seriously.

At the city of Phoenix Compliance Laboratory, we conduct rigorous testing, with 57,000 water samples analyzed each year to maintain the highest standards of water safety. Water Services Project Coordinator Kristi McFarlin emphasizes the importance of this work in keeping our community safe and ensuring everyone has access to fresh, clean drinking water.

With four water treatment plants processing water from the Salt, Verde, and Colorado Rivers, we are constantly monitoring the quality of the water to ensure compliance with EPA standards. Chemist Allison Shepherd explains the meticulous process of treating water to make it safe for consumption, highlighting the steps involved in the treatment process.

One of our current initiatives is Advanced Water Purification, where we are working towards sustainable water re-use in collaboration with the state of Arizona. This innovative approach will help secure a reliable water supply for the community in the future.

Our dedicated lab technicians and chemists work year-round to test and monitor the water, guaranteeing its safety and cleanliness for all residents. By prioritizing water quality, we are ensuring a healthier and sustainable future for our community.
