Welcome to the Trump Border Visit in Arizona

Former President Donald Trump is set to make a trip to the Arizona border on Thursday before his rally in Glendale on Friday.

Trump is expected to visit the border in Cochise County at 11:30 a.m.

Sheriff Mark Dannels stated that his department is prepared to showcase the daily realities faced by law enforcement agents at the border to Trump.

“We will take him to the border and discuss our challenges, our realities, and then what are we doing to make it work here too?” explained Dannels.

According to Dannels, over the past 32 months, 3,762 individuals from Cochise County have been incarcerated for border-related crimes, costing $12.5 million.

He emphasized that whenever border issues are in the spotlight, he takes it seriously.

“Whenever someone comes here and asks, ‘Hey, Sheriff, what are you doing? What is working? What do you need from us?’ that gives us hope,” said Dannels.

“It gives us encouragement for what we do. The state, local, and federal law enforcement agencies are working as well together here as they can be heard.”

Immigration is a key concern for voters nationwide, with polling data indicating a significant number of Americans view the US-Mexico border situation as a crisis or major problem.

Dannels hopes that Trump will “understand the reality” of enforcing the law at the border, acknowledging the varying opinions and comments in border discussions.

“Right now, I don’t care about politics,” said Dannels. “I care about public safety. I want to protect the people here in my state, including their quality of life. That is what I see.”

Dannels mentioned that he and the mayor of Sierra Vista have also invited Vice President Harris’ campaign to visit the border.

“I spoke with Senator Kelly on Friday and asked him to extend an invitation to Vice President Harris to come to our county and see what we are doing as well.”

This invitation is pending a response from the campaign.
