Former President Trump “accepts” a fake endorsement from Taylor Swift on Truth Social.
On August 18, Donald Trump posted on social media platforms, including Truth Social, suggesting that Taylor Swift endorsed him for president.
His post included several screenshots of images, one showing Swift dressed as Uncle Sam with text that reads, “Taylor wants you to vote for Donald Trump,” and others showing young women wearing “Swifties for Trump” shirts.
A VERIFY reader questioned the authenticity of Swift’s endorsement, leading us to investigate further.
The Question: Did Taylor Swift endorse former President Donald Trump?
The Answer:
No, Taylor Swift has not endorsed former President Donald Trump.
What We Found:
As of August 19, there is no public endorsement from Swift for any candidate in the 2024 presidential election. Our investigation found no evidence of an endorsement on Swift’s social media accounts, in national news, or on fan sites. Despite reaching out to Swift’s team, we did not receive a response.
In the 2020 election, Swift publicly voiced her support for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, making it clear that she did not support Donald Trump.
While Trump shared images on Truth Social suggesting a Swift endorsement, our research revealed that most of these images are generated by artificial intelligence. The only authentic photos are of a woman named Jenna Piwowarczyk wearing a “Swifties for Trump” shirt at a rally in Wisconsin.
Despite the fake images circulating on social media, there is no legitimate endorsement from Taylor Swift for Donald Trump.
A video posted by Wisconsin Right Now confirmed Jenna’s support for Trump and her enthusiasm for Taylor Swift, debunking the fake images circulated by Trump’s post.
Despite our efforts to reach out to the Trump campaign for clarification, we did not receive a response at the time of publication.
