Ava, a young woman from Arizona, is facing a severe case of gastroparesis, resulting in feeding tubes and multiple surgeries. Currently, she is fighting sepsis caused by a blood infection.
The situation is urgent as Ava requires specialized care at the Cleveland Clinic, but is not medically stable enough to travel by car or commercial flights. An air ambulance is necessary for her transport, costing approximately $80,000 for a one-way trip.
According to a verified GoFundMe created by Kimberly Weeks, Ava’s family is in need of financial assistance to cover the expenses. Despite their scheduled departure on August 15th, the insurance company has not approved coverage, leaving the family in a difficult situation.
In 2021, Ava was diagnosed with gastroparesis, leading to a gastric pacemaker and dependency on feeding tubes for 20 hours a day. She also requires IV medications and hydration through a port, increasing the risk of infections. Currently, Ava is hospitalized battling sepsis.
Ava’s doctors have recommended the specialized care available at the Cleveland Clinic as their best option for her condition. To support Ava’s journey and medical expenses, donations can be made through GoFundMe. Any contribution, big or small, can make a difference in Ava’s fight for life.
