Upcoming Closure on Interstate 10 in Phoenix
Are you a driver in the East Valley? If so, you need to be aware of an upcoming closure on Interstate 10. The Arizona Department of Transportation has announced that the eastbound I-10 off-ramp at 48th Street will close at 10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9 for ramp reconfiguration. This closure is expected to last into late 2024.
Officials recommend using the eastbound I-10 off-ramp at Broadway or Baseline roads as alternatives. In addition to the off-ramp closure, northbound 48th Street will also close between Broadway Road and I-10 at 8 p.m. on Aug. 9 for pavement reconstruction, with the closure expected to last into September.
Furthermore, southbound 48th Street will be closed between I-10 and Broadway Road from 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, to 4 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12.
Detours for Northbound 48th Street:
During the closure, you can use westbound Broadway Road to northbound 40th Street to eastbound University Drive to access northbound State Route 143. After 4 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 12, you can use westbound Broadway Road to northbound 40th Street to eastbound I-10 and exit onto the new eastbound I-10 off-ramp at Broadway Road to access 48th Street north of the closure.
Southbound 48th Street Detour:
For southbound traffic, use westbound I-10 to southbound 32nd Street to eastbound Broadway Road to access 48th Street south of the closure.
