Tragedy Strikes at Sheep’s Crossing: One Person Dead, Another Missing
PHOENIX — A day of recreation turned to tragedy at Sheep’s Crossing Recreation Site as one person died and another went missing after going underwater and not resurfacing.
According to reports, Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Lake Patrol deputies rushed to the Salt River site following a drowning incident reported around 5:30 p.m.
Witnesses stated that multiple individuals encountered distress while in the water, leading to two people going under and failing to come back up.
Upon arrival, deputies found two individuals at Blue Rock Beach administering CPR to a man. Despite their efforts and those of paramedics, the man could not be revived.
Despite an extensive search effort involving foot patrols, drones, and air support, the second person remains missing. The search will resume the following morning, as authorities strive to locate them.
The identity of the deceased individual has not been disclosed at this time.
